Carol has turned this touring site into one of the highest quality sites I've ever visited. The five stars don't really do it justice as it's immaculately maintained with extra-clean facilities.

The location is great, as Scarborough and the North York Moors are on your doorstep, but it's relatively quiet in Cayton village. It just a short drive off the A64 and the pitches are great quality, with some designed specifically for the monster caravans that seem to be getting themselves hitched to the back of Mercs and 4X4s.

The Hadrian's Wall area is without question a special place and without doubt there are days out gallore within a hour drive time of Allendale Caravan Park. Mike and Verona have invested a lot of time, effort and money bringing a decidedly average park up to a very high standard. If you're looking to buy a holiday home and locate it around Hadrian's Wall, you have to work hard to find a park as nice as this. There's even a nice self-catering unit on site should you wish to try out the area first.

The Dalesbridge Centre is in an ideal location, just off the A59, near to Settle and offering great access to all of the activities the Yorkshire Dales has to offer.

The caravan site part of the business is small, but he toilets and showering facilities are more than adequate. My advice is to speak to John about booking an electric point and book very early if you're thinking about main holiday periods.

Easy to get to from the M6 and Ullswater is simply beautiful. The touring area and holiday home rental area at Park Foot is extensive. Always ask for a spot near to the Lake if possible, it means a longer walk to the loos in the middle of the night, but you can't beat watching the sun go down over the lake with a beer in one hand and overcooked burger in the other. In addition, it's only a 10 minute walk into Pooley bridge and the pubs / restaurants.

If you like the qualiy and consistency of a Caravan and Camping Club site, Brown Rigg should definitely be on your list. Deep in rural Northumberland, the site is a fantastic base for Kielder Water and Northumberland National Park, as well as trips across the border to bonny Scotland. The park is well drained and staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. There's a little shop on site, as well as modern toilet blocks and a kids play area.

If your looking for everything on your doorstep, this is it. Pub, walks, fantastic views and friendly staff. The site caters for touring caravans, with some electric hook-ups. The owners also own the local pub next to the park and can even offer B&B if the rain is really getting you down. Not that it rains in the Yorkshire Dales.
